*We are building an Online Global Campus community that will draw upon faculty/teachers from around the world and an equal array of students. We are attempting to level the "playing field" of access to quality higher education resources. Starting in 2009 our global outreach will begin to recruit and prepare thousands of students from around the world to engage with a diverse faculty drawn from some of the best existing college campuses and places of employment from around the world.
Overview: The Ikologiks Center for Global Studies
The founding of this global online campus is a precursor to the official founding of the full I.C.G.S. physical campus location, which will begin undergoing construction in 2009. We intend to develop a "state of the art" global online campus community that transcends the current modeling for higher education in the world which is largely based upon century old western cultural values or norms in regards to higher education and the purpose of attaining advanced degrees.
If you believe that the world needs to consider geniune alternatives to the present economic driven forces of globalization than this is an academic community you will want to join. Today our planet is being increasing challenged and faced with an unprecendented envionmental crisis and myraid of other socio-economic problems. To address this crisis we desperately require a shift in human consciousness beyond the solely materialist based "pursuit of happiness" model. Instead, we must offer young students an enlightened curriculum that fosters the 'pursuit of fulfillment.'
It is increasingly clear that the religious world is ill-prepared or equipped to face the challenges before us because they totally rely on their outdated dogmas, rirtuals and ideologies. To solve these problems humanity requires an "advanced level of social, scientific and transformational technology (TT)" beyond our present day Information Technology (IT) focus in order to resolve the present global crisis. Moreover, it is clear that the political and economic institutions of nation states on a world-wide scale have proven themselves equally inept, corrupt and immoral despite their attempts towards transparancy. The ICGS believes it is high time for the youth of the world (the so called "Hip Hop" Generation, MTV Generation, Generation X, Indigo Children)and the young at heart to begin studying and researching alternatives to the global crisis. We hope this enlightened cadre of leadership will help create a new paradigm based on human transformation potential that makes civic society the apex of globalization rather economic materialism, greed and the continuted exploitation of man and nature. The ICGS does not totally oppose or reject current business and trade global systems, but is seeking to inspire students to transform these institutions (i.e. WTO, IMF, World Bank) to better serve the interests of all humanity and not just the corporate elite.
Our programs are non-sectarian, apolitical, not cultic and we do not expect our faculty, staff or students to follow or practice the ideas being fostered through our NGO like "ikologiks theory," "central philosophy" or the "iko-meditation technique." All are welcome to share their own philosophies, religious ideals, atheistic ideas or political-economic theories without restriction or duress.
